The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has suspended its Chairman, Mr. Mamman Mike Osuman, SAN, over comments he made regarding support for a northern candidate in the 2027 presidential election.
In a statement issued on Thursday and signed by Alhaji Bashir Muhammad Dalhatu and Alhaji Murtala Aliyu, the Chairman and Secretary-General of the ACF Board of Trustees, respectively, the forum explained that Osuman’s comments were made without prior consultation with other leaders of the organization.
“The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has been made aware of widely circulated statements attributed to Mr. Mamman Mike Osuman, SAN, OFR, Chairman of the ACF National Executive Committee (NEC), made during the NEC meeting held on Wednesday, November 2024, at the ACF Headquarters in Kaduna.
“Mr. Osuman was quoted as stating that the North will support a northern candidate for the presidency in the 2027 elections.
“These remarks were made by Mr. Osuman without consulting or discussing the matter with other leaders and members of the ACF, and therefore represent only his personal opinion.
“ACF rejects these statements in their entirety. Consequently, the leadership of the ACF’s Board of Trustees (BOT) and the NEC has decided to suspend Mr. Mamman Mike Osuman with immediate effect. A committee has been formed to investigate further.”*
