Senator Ali Ndume (Borno, APC) has urged President Bola Tinubu to drop more non-performing ministers.
He made the call in a statement on Saturday in Abuja, as he commended the cabinet reshuffle.
Ndume said, “More needs to be done because some ministers are still missing in action.”
President Tinubu on Wednesday his cabinet by dropped five ministers, appointed seven new ones and reassigned ten others in his first ever Federal Executive Council realignment.
The former Chief Whip of the Senate also asked Tinubu to organise a national economic summit to find home-grown solutions to the economic situation in the country.
He called for the inclusion of former Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala; former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili; Mansur Muktar, Akinwumi Adesina, Aruma Oteh and Tope Fasua, in the cabinet to drive the economic summit.
“This national economic summit should be purely led by these eminent Nigerians, and they will come up with recommendations instead of the IMF and World Bank’s prescriptions that are harsh and hard on the ordinary citizens.
“I believe if the recommendations are good, President Tinubu will implement them, and this will help the country in no small ways,” Ndume said.
He praised hailed Tinubu for reducing the cost of governance and urged other arms of government to emulate the president.
