The suspended Commissioner for Special Duties in Jigawa State, Auwal Danladi Sankara, was not engaging in any immoral act with a married woman Tasleem Baba Nabegu.
An official of the Kano State Hisbah Commission, Aliyu Dakata, disclosed this on Tuesday.
Mr Dakata added that there was no evidence of any illicit activity between Sakara and Nabegu when both of them were arrested at an uncompleted building.
According to the Hisbah official, “When we arrived at the scene, we found Tasleem in her car making a phone call, while Sankara was standing in the compound of the building under construction that belongs to him.
It would be recalled that on October 18, Kano Hisbah operatives arrested Sankara and Nabegu , accusing them of engaging in illicit acts.
This led to the suspension of Sankara by Governor Umar Namadi who also went on to set up an investigation panel to probe Sankara. The committee was given two weeks to complete its assignment and submit a report.
An anonymous Hisbah official said the Commissioner was arrested after a complaint was lodged with the command and other security outfits by the husband, Nasir Bulama who lives in Kano.
Reacting to the development, the suspended commissioner denied the allegation and threatened a legal action to clear his name.
He said those behind the allegation against him were his political enemies who wanted to tarnish his image because of his rising political profile in the state.
“These allegations are entirely false and malicious. I have the utmost respect for the institution of marriage and would never engage in such behaviour. This is a deliberate attempt to tarnish my reputation,” Sankara said.
Earlier on Tuesday, counsel to the married woman, Nabegu, Barrister Rabiu Shuaibu, said she has been separated from her husband for months due to domestic violence
“Tasleem has been separated from her husband for over 10 months and is running a business to support her children.
“On the day in question, she was delivering food to Sankara, who had placed an order, unaware that her husband was tracking her movements,” Shuaibu explained.
