Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived in Stockholm, Sweden, for a two-day working visit aimed at boosting trade and bilateral relations between Nigeria and Sweden.
The Vice-President’s aircraft touched down at the Arlanda International Airport Stockholm, at about 9:53 p.m. (Nigerian time) on Wednesday.
The Vice President’s entourage included the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Yusuf Tuggar, Gov. Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau, and some heads of federal government agencies and parastatals.
On arrival, Shettima was received by the Swedish Ambassador to Nigeria, Annika Hahn-Englund; Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr Bosun Tijani; Charge d’affaires, Nigerian Embassy, Sweden, Aliyu Mahmud; among others.
The Vice President’s spokesperson, Mr Stanley Nkwocha, said in a statement that Shettima would engage in high-level bilateral talks with key government officials during the working visit.
He said the Vice-President will meet with Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden and the Swedish Prime Minister.
Similarly, Nkwocha said Shettima would use the visit to explore opportunities for strengthening collaboration between Nigeria and Sweden.
This, he said, would be in areas such as Information Communication Technology (ICT), innovation, education, digitalisation, sustainable transport, mining, and agriculture.
Nkwocha added that Shettima was also expected to articulate Nigeria’s economic vision and the reforms being undertaken by the Tinubu administration to create a business-friendly environment in Nigeria for investors.
“Targeted areas of strengthened collaboration between Nigeria and Sweden that will be pursued by the Vice President include ICT, digitalisation, education, sustainable transport, agriculture and mining,” Nkwocha said.
