A rampaging flood has submerged over 60 communities in Ibaji Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The Ibaji Flood Plains Multipurpose Cooperative Society (IFPMPCS) has therefore called on the Kogi State Government to take immediate action, as over 60 communities in the area are now flooded.
Chairperson of the IFPMPCS Executive Committee, Prof Joy Ede Ukoje, made the plea in Lokoja.
She called for urgent intervention, especially the creation of a disaster relief fund to support the affected communities and mitigate the impact of the flooding on residents.
Ukoje said the scale of flooding in Ibaji and other areas along the bank of the River Niger has surpassed the state government’s capacity to manage effectively.
