Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has sworn in 23 newly elected local government chairmen on Sunday.
The governor swore in the chairmen at the Executive Council Chamber of the Government House in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
Tbis is coming hours after the chairmen were issued certificates of return by the Chairman of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission, Adolphus Enebeli.
The 22 chairmen were elected under the platform of the Action Peoples Party (APP), while the Action Alliance candidate won one seat.
They were elected in an election boycotted by the police and conducted under intense atmosphere.
