The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission says former governor of Kogi State; Yahaya Bello, was not in its custody.
The commission’s spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, stated this in a statement on Wednesday saying Bello was still being wanted with a subsisting warrant of arrest.
A section of the media ear;lier in the day reported that the former governor has turned himself in at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja where he was subsequently detained.
Oyewale said news reports that Bello was being detained in the commission was not true.
“Bello, already declared wanted by the Commission for alleged N80.2 billion money laundering charges, remains wanted with a subsisting warrant for his arrest.”
The case against Bello is expected to resume on September 26 at the Federal High Courtin Abuja before Justice Emeka Nwite.
