The Medical Director of Police Ultra-modern Hospital, Damaturu, Prof. Muhammed Bashir Tahir, has said capacity building for health workers is critical in enhancing healthcare delivery
Speaking at a sensitization workshop organized by the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Prof. Tahir stated that equipping healthcare staff with in-depth knowledge of health insurance operations is crucial for successful healthcare management.
He said globally health insurance has become the most viable method of financing healthcare.
For Nigeria to achieve effective healthcare delivery, healthcare workers must be well-versed in programs such as the NHIA.
In response, Dr. Salisu Hassan, representing the NHIA Yobe State Coordinator Malam Mansur Akilu, reiterated the authority’s commitment to providing technical support and expertise.

The lead presenter at the workshop, Dr. Ibrahim Auwal, Head of Standard and Quality Assurance at NHIA, urged participants to attentively absorb the knowledge shared, as it would significantly improve the quality of service delivery.
The workshop featured presentations on various aspects of NHIA’s reforms, innovations, claims management, referral protocols, and the NHIA benefit package.
