The Department of State Services (DSS) has released the President of Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero.
The labour leader was released on bail, it was gathered.
Mr Ajaero was arrested at the Abuja airport Monday morning on his way to London for a global trade union conference.
The NLC, in its reaction, summoned a NEC meeting Monday afternoon, where it gave the secret service agency up to midnight to release the NLC leader.
Mr Ajaero’s release was confirmed by an activist and former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, Omoyele Sowore.
Mr Sowore announced the release Monday night through his verified X account.
He said, “The fascist regime of @officialABAT has released the @NLCHeadquarters President Joe Ajaero from @OfficialDSSNG custody on bail.”
Another activist and NlC counsel, Deji Adeyanju, also confirmed Mr Ajaero’s release.
