Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has signed the 2024 supplementary budget of N99,221,503,569.93 into law, following its passage by the Kano State House of Assembly yesterday.
The supplementary budget is said to aim to complement the earlier approved budget of N437,338,312,787.93, bringing the total budget for 2024 to N536,559,816,357.84.
The supplementary budget allocates N68.2 billion (42%) for personnel and overhead costs, while N30.9 billion (58%) is earmarked for capital expenditure.
According to Commissioner of Information, Baba Halilu Dantiye, the supplementary budget will address exigencies not captured in the initial budget, which include, the implementation of the new national minimum wage for civil servants, local government elections, provision of school uniforms for primary pupils and review of project costs due to rising prices of goods and services.
The commissioner also stated that, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf had expressed appreciation for the support of the Kano State House of Assembly and the people of Kano, hoping for continued cooperation to sustain the administration’s tempo.
