Vice President Kashim Shettima on Thursday met with the National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu; Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri; Group Managing Director (GMD) of Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Mele Kyari; over the recent increase in prices of petrol.
A short statement released by the spokesperson of Shettima, Stanley Nwokocha, on Thursday said the meeting was at the instance of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Other top officials at the meeting held at the vice president’s office at the Presidential Villa Abuja include the Executive Director, Distribution Systems, Storage, and Retailing Infrastructure, Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Ogbugo Kalu Ukoha.
The meeting was to look at the current fuel supply challenges across the country, the statement said.
On Wednesday, the NNPC increased fuel price from N670 to N885 per litre, evoking nationwide outrage and sudden in prices of transport fares and commodities.
