Bandits have released Kabiru, the kidnapped son of the late Sarkin Gobir Muhammadu Isa Bawa after collecting N60 million and five motorcycles as ransom.
Sarkin Gobir and district head of Gatawa in Sokoto state, was kidnapped together with his son Kabiru on July 27. He was killed Tuesday evening appealing to the government and his relatives to come to their aid in a viral video.
On Wednesday night, the family of the Sokoto district head have confirmed his death and the release of his son.
Speaking to 21st CENTURY CHRONICLE on telephone, one of the sons of the deceased who is also the Turakin Gobir Sirajo Iaa, said their father died and was buried by his abductors.
“We were silent initially, thinking our father is still alive. But our brother who was released after the money and the motorcycles were delivered to them (bandits) confirmed to us that Sarkin is dead and was buried by their abductors.
“It is very sad but we cannot stop it. As Muslims we know this is how his end was destined by Almighty Allah,” he said.
