Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State has reiterated his commitment towards ensuring the early completion of the Military Armoured Division project in Illela Local Government Area which shares a border with Niger Republic.
Speaking during a visit to the area on Tuesday, the governor noted that the armoured division was part of efforts to improve security especially along the border areas and checkmate the activities of armed bandits ravaging some parts of the state.
He said arrangements are on top gear to pay compensation to people whose lands were being used for the armoured division site in the area.
Aliyu further assured the people of the area of his administration’s readiness to execute roads projects, culverts,drainages, as well as installation of 260 solar-powered street lights in the area.
On the issue of reconnecting Illela with the national grid, governor Aliyu said the work had reached an advanced stage, covering more than 4 out of the 8 local government areas of Sokoto east.
