President Bola Tinubu will preside over his first council of state meeting today.
The meeting, as usual, is expected to hold in the executive council chamber of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The meeting, which is attended by all former heads of state and presidents, former chief justices of Nigeria, president of the Senate, speaker of the House of Representatives, governors, and attorney-general of the federation (AGF), is chaired by the sitting president, with the vice president as deputy chair.
It is an organ of the federal government saddled with the responsibility of advising the executive arm of government on policy making.
Today’s meeting, the first to be chaired by President Tinubu, comes 18 months after the council’s last meeting on February 10, 2023, under former President Muhammadu Buhari.
The meeting, coming days after the nationwide #Endbadgovernance protest, is expected to discuss the protest, rising food inflation, insecurity and other national issues.
