The Kaduna State Police Command has denied claims that protesters have hijacked an Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) on Monday.
In a statement released by the Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansur Hassan, the command clarified the situation depicted in a viral video.
The footage showed protesters atop an APC during a demonstration around Tudun Wada area of the state.
ASP Hassan explained that the video captured a scenario where the APC driver faced a large crowd of protesters, adding that to avoid escalating the situation and using live ammunition, the driver chose to let the protesters climb the vehicle and safely maneuvered away from the scene.
The statement emphasized that the APC was never hijacked by the protesters, saying the vehicle and its personnel remained under the control of the Kaduna State Police Command throughout the incident.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Audu Ali Dabigi, urged the public to uphold the law and maintain peace.
He also thanked the community for their continued support and cooperation, reaffirming the police’s commitment to ensuring safety and security in Kaduna.
