Governor Ahmed Ododo has declared that the state will not join the August 1 hunger protest.
He said there was no reason for anybody in the state to join the protest.
Ododo made the declaration on Tuesday when he presented N100,000 naira each to 500 500 women and youths in poultry, value chain, and credit support, a World Bank Assisted programme through Livestock Productivity & Resilience Project (L-PRES).
According to the governor, Tinubu met the present economic hardship and has been doing his best to fix it, and urged Nigerians to rally round Mr. President so that he can solve the hardship people are currently facing.
“As a state, we will continue to support his laudable initiative in making Nigeria great. To those Nigerians who are bent on violent protests, let reasoning prevail. We are making progress. We are moving forward. Our hopes are back. We are climbing back to reckoning. Any violent protest at a time like this will no doubt reverse our gain in the past 13 months.
“The intent of the promoters of protest in Nigeria are concealed in political desperation. I call on all the youth of our day nation to rise behind Mr. President in his determination to fix the nation back on track. Thank you and God bless you.”
“We are determined to achieve the project development objective here in Kogi state. Let me seize this moment to congratulate the 500 women and youth poultry farmers and entrepreneurs selected as beneficiaries of this lovely project following the rigorous selection process in accordance with World Bank standard.
“Your selection is a clear testament that your immense contribution to the public value chain in your various communities. I say a big thank you to our dependable development partners, the World Bank, the tax team leader, and the National Project Coordinator of the L- PRESS Project in Nigeria, as well as the Kogi L- PRESS Project Management Team for their indomitable commitment and determination to launch Kogi State into the big league of livestock producers.”
The governor denied that no palliatives were diverted, saying the viral video being circulated on social media that Kogi State diverted palliatives did not emanate from the state. “There was never a time when Kogi State took delivery of beans but grains. It happened in Area 11 Abuja,” Ododo said.
