The abductors of the district head of Gatawa in Sabon Birni local government area of Sokoto state have reduced the ransom to N500 million.
They had earlier demanded Naira 1 billion.
The District Head Isa Muhammad Bawa, his son and brother were abducted last Saturday while returning from Sokoto.
A reliable source told 21st CENTURY CHRONICLE that the family of the victims had rejected the one billion ransom earlier demanded by the gunmen.
“They are still pleading with them to further reduce the money because there is no way they can raise N500 million,” the source said
The family sources said there was also a fear that the district head was injured during the attack.
“But I don’t think it is a gunshot injury because his family have been communicating with him,” it added.
