Telecoms giant, MTN, has announced a closure of all its offices, shops, service and experience centres across Nigeria.
The shutting down of the outlets follows the nationwide outrage by its subscribers over the barring of their lines at the weekend.
The telecommunications company in a message to subscribers on Tuesday said: “Yello customer, please be informed that our shops nationwide will be closed today, 30th July 2024.”
Thousands of subscribers besieged MTN offices across the country on Monday to reactivate their barred lines and in one video which went viral online, angry subscribers were seen destroying a perimeter fence outside the MTN office.
It was learnt that the vandalised office was the telecommunication company’s office in FESTAC Town, Lagos State
Public Relations Officer of the Police Command in Lagos, Benjamin Hundeyin, HD in a response to the video on Monday, said the DPO of FESTAC and his men had successfully restored normalcy and peace at the scene.
