The Sokoto state Government and Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko have donated N20 million and four trucks of food items to the victims of banditry in Isa local government area in the state.
Governor Ahmed Aliyu announced the donations just as also condoled the victims, expresing worry over the spate of bandits’ attacks in the area.
“As a government, we are doing everything humanly possible to end banditry through various means, such as giving our security agencies all the needed support to secure the state,” he added.
He commended of the security agencies in securing the State, and tasked them to put in more efforts in that direction.
“To further compliment the effort of our security personnel, we established the Sokoto State Community Guards Corps with the sole aim of protecting our rural dwellers,”he added.
Gov. Aliyu also appealed to the people of the state especially those worst affected by banditry to always assist the security agencies with relevant information on any suspicious movement.
Also speaking, the APC leader in the State, Sen Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, commended Gov. Aliyu for executing various people-oriented projects across the state.
It would be recalled that, the state government had at the weekend provided fertilizers to farmers worth over N4.7 billion and other inputs free of charge.
According to Governor Aliyu, the gesture was to bring down the already skyrocketed prices of food items in the state and the country at large as well as create job opportunities for youth and women.
