Gunmen had murdered the traditional ruler of Chanchangi Kumbiya Tanimu and his son Yusuf in Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State.
They were killed on Friday evening on the Takum-Chanchangi road as they returned from a funeral event in Takum.
The state governor, Kefas Agbu, disclosed this and ordered security agents to go after the assailants.
A statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Emmanuel Bello, said Agbu has condoled with the family, the people of Chanchangi and Takum over the incident.
“The governor, while pleading for calm from Takum residents, said he would leave no stone unturned to fetch out the criminals and bring them to justice in the shortest time possible,” Bello said.
Also, the Tiv cultural and social association in the state has condemned the killing of the monarch and his son.
The President-General of the association, James Baka, called on the government and security agencies to fish out the killers.
