An explosion has hit the Hydroelectric power dam situated in Zungeru in Niger State in the early hours of Monday.
The explosion left the people of the town in panic forcing them to scamper for safety.
The accident happened the workers were yet to resume work for the day.
It reportedly damaged some of the installations in the dam.
This newspaper learnt that security personnel including one of the foreign engineers who was on routine check, among other workers were wounded by the explosion
They have all been taken to the Minna general hospital.
The engineer suspected to be Chinese was first admitted to the emergency ward of the hospital for treatment for burns on the head and hand.
Due to the seriousness of his condition, the Chinese transfer was being arranged to the IBB Specialist Hospital also in Minna for proper medical attention.
The number of workers injured in the explosion was yet to be determined, but many wre affected.
The source of the explosion has not been determined at press time but the incident has caused power outages in the vicinity of the dam has cut off.
