Karu Market in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has been destroyed by fire on Thursday night.
The acting Director of FCT Fire Service, Abiola Adebayo, said firefighters were deployed to the scene, adding that the cause of the fire is still under investigation, and officials were working to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the outbreak
A resident of the area, Yusuf Mustapha, said goods and property worth millions of naira were burnt to ashes.
“A lot of destruction has been caused for sure. It’s really terrible. I have friends that do business in the market,” Mustapha said.
The FCT police command’s spokesperson Josephine Adeh, said policemen from three divisional headquarters were deployed to the scene.
