Members of the organised labour comprising the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC), have convened an emergency meeting following the decision of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) on the minimum wage issue.
The meeting, which is scheduled to hold on Wednesday (today), is to take a position ahead of President Bola Tinubu’s consultation with the unions.
On Tuesday, Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, while briefing newsmen at the end of the FEC meeting said the memo on the minimum wage was stepped down as the president said he needed more time for consultation.
The minister said Council could not take a decision on the report of the tripartite committee because it involves local, states an the federal government as well as Organised Private Sector and Labour unions.
