Twenty civilians were kidnapped by gunmen in the Dawaki community in Bwari, Abuja on Sunday.
The attackers stormed the area between 7.30 p.m. and 8.30 p.m. and broke into about six houses.
They took some of the occupants away through the mountains.
An anonymous resident said “The incident happened yesterday between 7:30-830pm. Location – Dawaki by News Engineering (urban shelter) at Fulani junction. Heavily armed bandits numbering approximately 50 men and women. Victims – about 6 houses were broken into and residences and taken away through the mountains. About 15-20 people were taken away.
“I was at the mosque when I received the distress call about the sound of guns. Some vehicles were shot at and houses were broken into,” the source said, asking not to be named for security reasons.
The spokesperson of the FCT Police Command, Josephine Adeh, was yet to make a statement on the attack as at the time of this report.
