The Nigerian Army has cried out that it’s facing challenges of obsolete equipment, manpower shortage and insufficient welfare.
The Commander of the Infantry Corps, Nigerian Army, Major General Olufemi Oluyede, who disclosed this in Jaji Kaduna, said these were affecting the operational efficiency in the fight against insecurity.

The Commander, however, praised the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, for tackling these challenges and repositioning the Nigerian Army to defeat current and future threats, noting significant progress in that regard.
General Lagbaja, meanwhile, has informed the soldiers on assignments to various battlefronts that they will receive the highest benefits in recognition of their sacrifices in defending Nigeria.
Lagbaja underlined the importance of professionalism, lawfulness and loyalty to the constitution in discharging their duties.
He stressed the significance of successful training at all levels for achieving victory in battle and urged troops not to withhold any ideas or suggestions that could enhance combat capabilities.
The COAS said the Nigerian Army was committed to engaging with stakeholders to ensure troops receive deserving benefits aligned with their daily sacrifices.
