The 18 Kano Kantin Kwari traders kidnapped by gunmen along Lokoja-Okene road have been released.
The traders were kidnapped January 10, on their way to Aba, Abia State, to buy textile materials.
President of Arewa Youth Traders Association of Nigeria, Alhaji Abubakar Babawo, confirmed the release of the traders in Kano on Sunday.
He said the traders were released by their abductors on Saturday evening.
“The 18 Kano traders who were among the 27 traders regained their freedom on Saturday evening. They slept in Kaduna and they are now on their way to Kano,” h Babawo said.
Babawo confirmed that ransom was paid, but declined to state the amount paid to secure the release of the traders.
