Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced a further reduction in the prices of both diesel and aviation fuel to N940 and N980 per litre respectively.
The price change of N940 is applicable to customers buying five million litres and above from the refinery, while the price of N970 is for customers buying one million litres and above.
About a fortnight ago, the company announced a reduction in the price of diesel from N1,200 to N1,000. It had earlier effected another price reduction of N1,700 to N1,200.
Head of Communication at the firm, Anthony Chiejina, said the new price is in consonance with the company’s commitment to cushion the effect of economic hardship in Nigeria.
He said Dangote Petroleum Refinery was partnering MRS Oil and Gas stations to ensure the pump price of diesel is N1,050 at all its filling stations across the country and aviation fuel is N980 at all major airports where MRS operates.
Chiejina said the partnership will be extended to other major oil marketers.
In a reaction, Director General of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), Mr Ajayi Kadiri, said the development was a demonstration of the capacity of local industries to positively impact the fortunes of the national economy, pointing out that the intervention promises to change the dynamics in the energy cost equation of the country, in the midst of inadequate and rising cost of electricity.
