French Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez announced on Monday that more than 890 people were arrested in connection with the riots that followed Paris Saint-Germain’s UEFA Champions League title win.
Nuñez confirmed in statements to France Inter radio that the number of arrests increased by 45 percent compared to 2025, which saw the Parisian team win its first title in the European competition.
The French minister also noted that 178 police and gendarmerie officers were injured during the two days of celebrations, after riots erupted in several French cities following Paris Saint-Germain’s title victory, with shops looted and fires set in several areas.
Despite the large number of arrests, these operations resulted in only 312 individuals being placed in police custody, according to French channel BFM TV.
