The Superintendent Pastor of the Citadel Global Community Church (CGCC), Tunde Bakare, on Monday donated N250 million to charity.
The money was a birthday gift presented to Bakare by his church members.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Bakare clocked 70 on Nov. 11, 2024.
The event held at the CGCC headquarters in Oregun Ikeja, Lagos featured a public presentation of Bakare’s autobiography entitled “The Least but Definitely not the Last.”
Speaking at the event, laden with songs and worship to God, Bakare said commended his church members for the kind gesture.
“Before you think of what to gain or take away from the country, one should think how to make the country great.
“There are many avenues in the country that as an individual or as a group we need to work on and advance the fortunes of the nation and make it better for humans to live in.
“As a shepherd, it is your duty to feed the flock so they will not lack and become resentful of the good news of salvation.
“I will employ God’s wisdom and channel the N250 million to the needy, that way the seed you have shown in me today will continue to multiple to God’s glory,” he said.
Earlier in his remark, the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, described the celebrator as a father figure to many that have listened to his messages and preaches.
Sanwo-Olu said that Bakare through his advocacy and counsel had positively influenced the society with many adopting him as role model.
“As testament to his good works, Pastor Bakare is not just a man of God, he is a father to us that listen to his messages and counsels.
“A special child of God born on 11/11, a special day in the human calendar, he has remained an unwavering nationalist, whose patriotic zeal could not be quenched by challenges,” he said.
The governor prayed for the good health and stable mind for the preacher.
The event was attended by prominent Nigerians such as Sen. George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation who represented President Bola Tinubu, Gov. Dapo Abiodun of Ogun and the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Mr Obafemi Hamsat.
Others were former governors Sen. Gbenga Daniel, Otunba Olusegun Osoba, Sen. Ibikunle Amosu, Malam Ahmed El-Rufia, Mr Victor Attah and Co-Founder Guaranty Trust Bank, Mr Fola Adeola.
Others were former Deputy Governor, the Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr Tunde Lemo, Dr Joe Odumakin, the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo and many others.
