Police have arrested a 61-year-old cripple, Musa Usman, and 27-year-old Ahmed Shuaibu, for complicity in the distribution and sale of dangerous drugs to bandits in their camps at Babuga, Nasarawa State.
The suspects were paraded on Thursday alongside 46 others at the headquarters of the defunct Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in Abuja.
Usman hail from Kebbi State but resides in Anambra State, while Shuaibu is a native of Nasarawa State, the Police said.
Force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba, said Usman had been taking advantage of his physical state to evade police attention until his eventual arrest.
He said 35 wraps of substance suspected to be Cocaine were recovered from the suspects.
Mba said the operatives also arrested nine people suspected to have abducted a member of the Taraba State House of Assembly, Mohammed Bape in December 2020.
He said the kidnappers were nabbed at their various hideouts in Taraba and Plateau States by the Police FIB Intelligence Response Team and Special Tactical Squad.
He said investigations by the police team disclosed that the suspects are members of a notorious armed robbery and kidnapping syndicate that specializes in terrorizing innocent citizens in Plateau and Taraba States.
Mba said various items recovered from the suspects included, 14 AK47 rifles, 10 AK47 magazines, 58 live cartridges, four AK47 live ammunition, four POS machines, two laptop computers, 18 mobile phones, Internet modem and nine ATM cards.
