Sixty People’s Democratic Party (PDP) members in the House of Representatives have threatened to quit the party if the acting National Chairman Umar Ililya Damagum is not removed.
The lawmakers said this in Abuja on Maday, adding that Damagum should be replaced with someone from the North Central in line with the constitution of the party among other demands.
They said Damagum has handed the structure of the leadership of the PDP to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Ugochinyere Ikenga, leading five other lawmakers spoke on behalf of the 60 lamkers, adding that has been doing anti-party activities, and has sold the party “for a plate of porridge.”
Ikenga said if President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has not been consistent in opposition over the years, he would have not succeeded as President today.
They said Damagun should go before the PDP was completely destroyed, just as they threatened that if their demands were not met they would leave the PDP and move to join other political parties.
