A 45-years-old tanker driver, Dahiru Aliyu, has died inside a petrol tanker compartment, in Hotoro quarters of Kano metropolis.
The spokesperson of the Kano State Fire service, Saminu Abdullahi Yusuf, who confirmed the incident on Thursday said the deceased had descended into the compartment to fetch petrol from inside with a jerrycan.
He said the incident was reported to the command at about 11 am on Monday 27 December 2021, by one Shu’aibu Muhammad.
“We turned out our rescue team to the scene of the incident and on their arrival, they found that it was a petrol tanker with registration number DKD 411 XF,” Abdullahi said.
He said the victim was found unconscious, and later confirmed dead, adding that the corpse had been handed to inspector Bature Pensok of Hotoro Police Division, Kano.
