Thousands of residents, mostly women and children of Randagi community in Birnin Gwari local government area of Kaduna state are fleeing their community to take refuge in towns and neighbouring villages, due to endless bandits attacks.
Some villages in Birnin Gwari local government have been under bandits attacks leading to the death of many people and commuters.
A resident of Randagi, Aliyu Muktar said he and his two wives, 13 children and parents are presently taking refuge with his relatives in Birnin Gwari town after fleeing the community.
”We are about 20 people that fled because there was no food and people were just leaving the town for fear of being attacked by bandits. Honestly it was terrible,” he said.
Another resident, Shehu Muktar said 40,000 people have left their home in Randagi and neighbouring villages of Ukuru, Galma and Wamba.
He said the villages have been turned to ghost towns as people left their farms, foodstuffs and other belongings.
“About 27 people, mostly women and children, are staying with me at my Birnin Gwari residence. They don’t have a place to go and there is hunger everywhere,” Muktar said.
