Thirty people have been killed in a road accident at Kwanar Barde in Gezawa Local Government Area of Kano State.
Eyewitness accounts indicated that the crash involved a trailer heading towards Gujungu, which reportedly lost control due to alleged reckless driving.
The impact left more than 30 persons dead, while several others sustained varying degrees of injuries.
The casualties involved in the accident prompted the state governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, to direct an immediate free medical care for the survivors at state’s facilities.
In a statement released by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the governor conveyed profound grief over the incident, describing it as a tragic and painful loss to the bereaved families and the state at large
Governor Yusuf offered prayers for the departed souls and sought divine comfort and strength for the families affected by the tragedy. He also prayed for the quick recovery of victims currently receiving treatment at different health facilities across the state.
“As part of immediate response measures, the governor directed the Kano State Ministry of Health to ensure prompt and comprehensive medical attention for all injured victims at no cost,” said the statement.
