An elder statesman and former minister, Mr Paul Unongo, is dead.
Mr. Unongo, a former minister of Steel Development in the Second Republic.
He died died on Tuesday afternoon, family sources have said.
He was 87.
Mr Unongo died at a hospital in Jos, Plateau State.
The deceased was Chairman of Northern Elders Forum (NEF).
He unsuccessfully ran for governor of Benue State in 1983.
Mr Unongo was born on September 26, 1935 to the Kwaghngise-Anure-Abera ancestry in Turan of Kwande Local Government Area in Benue state.
The Tiv Traditional Council will formally announce his passing.
