The Police in Jigawa State have arrested a 26-year-old man, Fulanin Mailefe, for allegedly killing his 23-year-old wife, Fatima Hardo Dare, in Baldi village, Sule Tankarkar local government area of the state.
The incident happened at about 12:50 pm on December 27.
Police spokesperson, Lawan Shiisuin confirmed the incident in a statement on Thursday.
Shiisuin said the suspect allegedly hit the deceased with a stick over a misunderstanding.
He said the incident was reported to the Police by Bulama Muntari Ubale who lives in the same village.
Shiisuin said Ubale told the Police that the suspect hit his wife with a stick on the head during a dispute between them, which led to her death.
He said a neighbour, Rabi Lawan, who came to intervene in the dispute between the couple also sustained injury.
Shiisuin said upon receipt of the report, a team of policemen rushed to the scene and conveyed the victims to Gumel General Hospital, where Mrs Dare was confirmed dead by a medical doctor.
He said Mrs Lawan had been admitted at the hospital for treatment.
