Idris Aderemi, a 21-year-old man accused of stealing phone accessories worth N1.78 million, appeared before an Ojo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State on Friday.
On two counts of conspiracy and theft, the defendant—whose address was withheld—is being tried before Magistrate L J.K. Layeni.
He, however, entered a not guilty plea to the accusation.
The defendant committed the offenses on April 16, 2022, at the Fancy and Furniture Plaza, which is located in the Alaba International Market in Ojo, according to the prosecutor, Dr. Simon Uche.
According to Uche, the defendant planned to take the phone accessories from Cap Link Communication Ltd. in the plaza with the help of a fugitive.
The accused offenses violate Sections 287 and 411 of the Lagos State Criminal Law of 2015.
Layeni set the defendant’s bail at N300,000 with two equal-sized sureties.
He set the trial date for February 15th.
