Twenty one thousand, seven hundred and ninety four farmers affected by the 2020 flood disaster in Sokoto State have benefitted from Federal Government’s Emergency Agricultural Interventions Fund (EAIs), Director-General, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mustapha Habib, has said.
He disclosed this at the flag-off ceremony of the agricultural farm inputs in Dange-Shuni local government area of the state.
Represented by the Head, Search and Rescue Unit, NEMA Operations Office Sokoto, Mallam Aminu Ambursa, the NEMA DG said the direct distribution of the inputs to the affected farmers would be in 17 local government areas in the state.
He said a team, which comprises NEMA staff with support from Agric Extension Workers, State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), security personnel and other stakeholders in emergency and humanitarian response would conduct the exercise.
Habib said the materials distributed by NEMA under the EAIs are water pumps (3HP0, fertilizer NPK (50kg), rice, maize and groundnut Seeds, Knapsak sprayers (16 Liters), growth enhancers, pesticides and herbicides.
