A prominent women’s group in Zamfara, ‘Women for Women group (He for She)’, has declared its support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Gov. Dauda Lawal for a second term.

The group also pledged support for All Progressive Congress (APC) candidates in the 2027 general elections.

The declaration was made in Gusau on Thursday at a special reception organised in honour of Hajiya Fatima Umar-Shinkafi, the Executive Secretary of Solid Minerals Development Fund.

The event, chaired by the Wife of Zamfara governor, Hajiya Hurriyya Lawal, was attended by a large crowd of various APC women groups across the state.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that during the event, Umar-Shinkafi distributed wrappers and cash to over 10,000 women drawn from the 14 Local Government Areas of the state.

In her remarks, the State Coordinator of the group, Dr Luba Ammani, described the reception as timely and necessary, considering Hajiya Umar-Shinkafi’s contribution to improving the lives of women, children, and vulnerable groups.

She noted that Umar-Shinkafi deserved to be honoured in recognition of her commitment to the welfare of the less privileged, particularly women in the state.

“We organised this reception to express our appreciation for her humanitarian efforts towards women and other vulnerable groups across Zamfara,” she said.

Ammani added that the group declared support for President Tinubu, Gov. Dauda Lawal, and all APC candidates come 2027.

She commended President Tinubu for appointing Umar-Shinkafi as Executive Secretary, SMDF and described her appointment as beneficial to the people of the state and Nigeria as a whole.

Speaking, the Chairperson of APC Women Elders’ Committee in the state, Hajiya A’ishatu Maradun, assured that: “Women in the state are ready to vote for Tinubu, Gov. Dauda Lawal, and all APC candidates for a second term in the 2027 general election.

“Hajiya Umar-Shinkafi is capable of mobilising women in the state to vote massively for Tinubu, Lawal and APC.

“As a women group, we must support capable women in leadership position to ensure effective service delivery.”

Presenting a donation of cash and clothes, Hajiya Umar-Shinkafi explained that the distribution of cash and clothing to over 10,000 beneficiaries was part of efforts to complement government’s initiatives in empowering women.

“This initiative aims at empowering women and extending humanitarian support to poor and vulnerable families,” she explained.

In her remarks, Hajiya Hurriyya Lawal, wife of the Zamfara governor, expressed appreciation for the gesture, noting that it would complement the governor’s efforts in supporting vulnerable groups in the state.

“This is a timely and welcome development, and it will strengthen ongoing efforts to assist the less privileged in our society,” she declared.
