Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Nasarawa West Senatorial zone have made a case for the governorship candidate of the party to emerge from the zone in 2027.

Sen. Abdullahi Adamu, a former governor of state, who spoke at the zonal stakeholders meeting of the party on Sunday in Keffi, said it was time zone to produce the next governor of the state in 2027.

Adamu, also a former National Chairman of the party, said that the  meeting was convened to ensure that stakeholders unite with a view to produce the governor in the next election.

He explained that Nasarawa Western (Keffi) zone had governed the state for Eight year, Nasarawa Southern (Lafia) zone had 12 years, and Nasarawa Northern (Akwanga) zone, with the incumbent Gov. Abdullahi Sule, would be completing eight years in 2027.

Adamu maintained that in the spirit of fairness, “it is time for Keffi Zone to produce the next governor of the state in 2027.”

He said that a committee would be constituted to ensure that the zone achieved the goal of producing the next governor of the state.

Also speaking, Mr Danladi Jatau, Speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly, called for unity among stakeholders in order to succeed in their quest to clinch the governorship position in 2027.

“I want to appreciate Sen. Abdullahi Adamu, for this initiative.

“The essence of this meeting is to get what belongs to us in 2027, that is the governorship.

“We have always supported zoning of the governorship. It is now our turn to produce the governor in 2027 and we expect the same gesture of support from the other zones,” he said.

Jatau, however, cautioned against betrayers, who might work against the interest of the zone for personal gains.

“We will get it right in 2027, if we did not have betrayers,” he said.

The speaker also urged the governorship aspirants from the zone put the interest of the zone and party above their aspirations.

“Any one of our governorship aspirants that wins the primary, we will work for such cqndidate,” he added.

Other stakeholders who spoke at the meeting acknowledged that the zone had capable and qualified people to govern the state in 2027.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that dignitories at meeting include Prof. Abdulkarim Kana, the APC National  Legal Adviser, Hajiya Imaan  Ibrahim, Minister of Women Affairs, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi, former Speaker of the State Assembly.

Others were Mr Abdulmumin Ari,  representative of  APC- Nasarawa/Toto Federal constituencies, Dr Shuaibu Labaran Magaji, the Secretary to State Government (SSG), Alhaji Aliyu Ahmed Tijani, Federal Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI).
