The Presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, will unveil his running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima in Abuja, on Wednesday.
The APC National Organising Secretary, Suleiman Argungu, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday morning.
Senator Shettima will be officially unveiled by 1.00pm at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja.
The statement reads, “The All Progressives Congress will formally unveil its Vice Presidential Candidate, Senator Kashim Shettima, to the Nigerian public.
“All members of the National Executive Committee, Progressives Governors’ Forum, APC Caucus in the National Assembly, Federal Executive Council, diplomatic corps and presidential aspirants at the June 2022 Special National Convention, APC state chairmen, secretaries and organising secretaries are hereby invited to witness this landmark official unveiling of our great party’s vice presidential candidate.”
Mr Shettima was announced as running mate by Mr Tinubu after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari in Daura, Katsina State, on July 10.
Mr Tinubu said he picked Shettima because of his competence, innovation, compassion, integrity, fairness, and adherence to excellence.
Mr Shettima, a trained banker and developmental economist, is a two-term governor of Borno state.
From 2007 to 2011, Shettima was commissioner for finance, local government and chieftaincy affairs, education, agriculture and health in Borno state.
As Borno governor, he formally established youths volunteers (Civilian JTF) that has been assisting military in fighting Boko Haram terrorists.
He also appointed Christians from Southwest, Southeast and South-south as senior aides during his tenure as governor.
