Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde will not be contesting for his second term with his deputy, Rauf Olaniyan as running mate.
The governor had already secured the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ticket for his return bid.
However, according to The Cable, Makinde has dropped Olaniyan for the former attorney-general in the state, Bayo Lawal as running mate amid rumoured rift with his deputy.
Olaniyan was a governorship aspirant in the African Democratic Congress before the party entered into an alliance with the PDP ahead of the 2019 election.
It was agreed that Olaniyan would drop his governorship ambition and become the running mate to Makinde.
It was rumoured that the relationship between the duo took a dive towards the end of their first term.
