The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has budgeted N239.2 billion for materials and logistics that would be deployed to prosecute the 2023 general elections.
According to a report by The PUNCH, the amount constituted 78.44 per cent of the Commission’s N305bn budget for the election.
The information drived its sources from the Commission’s 2023 General Election Project Plan launched in Abuja.
It said out of the N239.2 billion, N27.1 billion is earmarked for possible run-off elections, including the one for the presidential poll.
The breakdown of the budget indicated that N105.2 billion would go into the procurement of accreditation devices, while N23.7 billion is set aside as allowances for ad hoc staff.
Election logistics would gulp N23 billion; printing of ballot boxes would take N20.6 billion; N12.7 billion for non essential materials, and N9 billion is for printing of result sheets.
Others include N7.8 billion for the procurement of ballot boxes and a separate N5.39 billion for the same purpose, while N3.9 billion is for operational vehicles.
