Former Military President Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida has tipped Vice President Yemi Osinbajo as the best candidate for the presidency in 2023.
Speaking when the Osinbajo Grassroots Organisation visited him at his Hilltop residence in Minna, Niger State, IBB said Osinbajo “is a good man who understands the country.”
He said, “I know the professor very well. He is a good man and we need a good man to run us in this country. Somebody you can learn from; somebody you share a common conviction with.
“A man who has passion for this country. Nigeria is a good country; the people of Nigeria are good . You must learn to understand people and constant discussion is key.
“I want to convey my best wishes to the vice president through you. And I want you to tell him to stay on cause. I know it’s not easy but he has the conviction. I wish him the best.”
He also described Prof. Osinbajo as “a man who can communicate with the country and inspire people to achieve a greater goal for the country”, adding that such a person “is a worthy person that we should all support.”
The National Convener of the Organization, Foluso, said they were in Minna to seek the support of the former military president, who he described as one of the best leaders of the country.
“We came to consult the oracle and the oracle has spoken. Gen. Babangida is an oracle because he understands Nigeria,” he noted.
He said although the vice-president had not declared any intention to contest for the presidency in 2023, but Nigerians will continue to mount pressure on him to do so.
