Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has secured his reelection ticket on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The governor emerged the party’s governorship candidate for the 2023 election through the primary conducted in Yola on Wednesday.
Chairman of the PDP Governorship Primaries committee, Barr. Gavin Katabs, who announced the outcome, said Fintiri polled 663 votes out of the 668 accredited votes to emerge as the standard bearer.
In April, Fintiri declared his intention to seek reelection after groups, which include Gamzaki Traders Association, Gaskiya Youths Forum, PDP Coalition Support Group, ATM Adamawa Agenda, Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Labour Union, Fintiri Continuity, and Nigeria Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), purchased nomination form for him.
“After a very wide consultation within our great party and outside it, within the state and outside it, with my family, friends, associates and leaders, I wish to formally inform you that I have accepted to offer myself once again to seek for the endorsement of our great party, the PDP, to carry its flag in the 2023 governorship election,” he had said.
