Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi and Adams Oshiomhole, former national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are set to declare their intention to run for president on Wednesday.
Their media aides Yinka Oyebode and Victor Oshioke disclosed this in separate statements.
Oyebode, chief press secretary Fayemi, said his boss’s decision to contest the 2023 presidential election follows weeks of extensive consultations across the geo-political zones.
“The NGF Chairman said the engagements with the traditional rulers and political leaders provided an avenue to share and listen to their perspectives on the ideal approaches to building a united country based on justice, freedom, equity and the rule of law.
“The aggregate opinion, counsel and goodwill received during the consultation period will form the crux of his declaration on Wednesday at the nation’s capital city,” the statement said.
Also, Oshioke, media aide to Oshiomhole, said the former Edo governor will make an official declaration at 3pm at the Cyprian Ekwensi Centre for Arts and Culture in Abuja.
He added that the event was scheduled to hold on an earlier date, but was later postponed for further consultations.
“The formal declaration of Comrade Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole to contest for the office of President, Federal Republic of Nigeria, in the 2023 general election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress which was postponed has now been rescheduled, after extensive consultations.
“We apologise for the short notice and hope that your love for Comrade Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole will motivate you to attend, irrespective of any unforeseen constraints,” he noted.
