Ekiti, Ondo, Ebonyi and 17 northern states are to key into the National Livestock Transformation Programme in the ongoing efforts to end farmers/herders clash.
However, Anambra, Oyo, Delta, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, and Edo states opted out of the programme.
Senior Special Assistant to the President on Agriculture, Dr. Andrew Kwasari, in a statement said NLTP would go along way in modernising livestock and crop production in the country.
He also said the programme would bring to an end incessant farmers/herders’ clash and it’s consequent loss of lives and property.
He noted that states reserve the right to either key in or opt out, adding that it’s not a matter of conscription but choice.
