Eighteen people were killed in two separate accidents on Saturday in Osun and Imo states, injuring dozens others.
In Osun state, the accident claimed eight persons died along Osogbo-Ibadan road when a trailer fell from a flyover bridge.
The trailer which carried kegs of palm oil and 61 males lost control while ascending the bridge.
Officials of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in the state, policemen and officials of the Osun State Ambulance Service arrived at the scene on time to rescue the victims.
The FRSC Sector Commander, Kudirat Ibrahim while confirmed the incident and sympathized with the families of the victims.
In Imo state, it was a truck that lost control in and ran into a market, killing at least 10 women.
The accident happened at Nkwommiri Market, near Nwangele River in Umuozu community of Imo.
The incident which happened around 12 noon at the intersection between Anara- Orlu and Amaigbo – Amaraku Expressway left many others injured.
Our correspondent gathered that the truck which was descending a hill lost control killing the women after ramming into other vehicles.
