Gunmen have stormed Ekwe Community in the Isu Local Government Area of Imo State kidnapping 15 young men.
The kidnappers gained access to the community through the Njaba River which demarcated Ekwe Community from Amucha Community in Njaba LGA, a community leader has said.
A villager, Akubuo Princewill, said the 15 young men were kidnapped while excavating sand at the Njaba River.
Akubuo said the gunmen shoot indiscriminately into the air while searching for more youths to abduct.
The traditional ruler of the community, Eze Nicholas Ibekwe, who said information had reached him of the presence of of hooded gunmen, adding that after attacking the community four of the gunmen attacked his palace.
According to the royal father, it was one of the young men who was arrested but let off the hook owing to his visual impairment that alerted the community of the development.
The traditional ruler disclosed that four of the gunmen who stormed his palace wore camouflage with no masks.
The police spokesperson for the command, Michael Abattam, advised the community to lodge a formal report to the police post in the area to enable the police to take the matter up.
