Fifteen 15 bandits and a soldier have been killed during a gun battle with soldiers in Anguwan Mallam in Kontagora, Niger state.
A security source told 21st CENTURY CHRONICLE that the incident happened at about 4pm Saturday evening.
He said soldiers on patrol sighted the bandits at Anguwan Mallam, near Kontagora town, and engaged them, killing 15 of them.
“Unfortunately, we lost a soldier,” the source said.
He said some bandits escaped with gunshot wounds through forest after they were overpowered by the soldiers.
